Osteopathy
Osteopathy is an established and recognised system of detecting, treating and preventing health problems through massage, stretching and the manipulation of muscles and joints. Osteopaths believe that pain and disability in the body are caused by problems with the way bones, muscles and joints fit and work together.
A combination of techniques is used to restore balance and optimise the body’s natural healing process. We use our hands to investigate the underlying causes of pain, focussing on the body’s skeleton and joint function alongside the underlying muscles, soft tissue and internal organs.
Treatment may include the manipulation of muscles and joints, the stretching of muscle and connective tissue, rhythmic joint movements or high velocity thrust techniques to improve the range of movement in a joint, as well as soft tissue massage. We also use a cranial approach, based on touch, to identify and correct mechanical disturbances around the joints of the skull and throughout the body.
We treat a range of conditions including:
Pain such as joint, neck, hip, shoulder and back pain
Sciatica nerve pain and Herniated disk and spinal stenosis
